Vinyl is back. Back in the groove. It’s the bigness, the tangible-thing-in-your-hand: tactile and aesthetic; the romance of the coveted object, a bit of nostalgia. Putting on a record is an event. It’s going for audible ecstasy, the “warmth” of the sound, a formal dinner versus fast food, delightful pink noise leaving brown and white to CDs… and then of course our vicinity to Detroit…
yeah, . . . I personally like the hiss, snap, crackle, and skips. I love the warm smell that comes off a record that’s been spinning 331/3 RPM.
